Raleigh Rainwater Rewards Program

Earn rewards. Beautify your property. Protect Raleigh’s water.

RWU is proud to partner with the City of Raleigh’s Engineering Services team to promote the Rainwater Rewards Program, a stormwater cost-share initiative that helps you make eco-friendly improvements to your property while receiving financial support.

What is the Rainwater Rewards Program?

This City of Raleigh program helps property owners install approved Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) solutions that reduce runoff and pollution. Together, we’re creating a cleaner, greener Raleigh.

RWU is here to help you learn, apply, and get rewarded.

Project Types You Can Get Funded For:

Rain Gardens – Absorb runoff with native plants and amended soils
Cisterns – Capture rainwater from rooftops for reuse
Permeable Pavers – Let rain soak through your driveway or walkway
Impervious Surface Removal – Replace pavement with green space
Green Roofs – Vegetated roofing to reduce runoff and cool your building

How Much Can You Get?

Up to 75–90% reimbursement for most Raleigh property owners
100% funding for eligible rental properties, faith-based organizations, and households in historically underserved communities

Who’s Eligible?

If your property is located in Raleigh and you pay a stormwater utility fee, you likely qualify! Includes:

Homeowners
HOAs (common areas)
Businesses, churches, schools
Renters & places of worship in priority zones

Community Education + Workforce Training

RWU is also supporting the City’s Workforce Development Initiative to train 120 local high school students and educators in GSI practices. We’re helping build Raleigh’s next generation of environmental stewards and green workers.
