Triangle Community Foundation

Triangle Community Foundation is a local foundation that connects donors and nonprofits to improve our quality of life in the Triangle. TCF has over 40 years of experience building partnerships and funding solutions for the region’s most pressing needs. Their goal is to ensure that everyone in Chatham, Durham, Orange, and Wake Counties has the resources and opportunity to thrive.

The foundation manages over $300M in assets and over 800 philanthropic funds which range in

size and focus depending on the interests of our donors. Those include donor-advised

funds, scholarship funds, legacy funds, and endowments. They focus their discretionary funding in four impact areas capacity building, cultural arts, education & youth, and sustainable communities.

During the Foundation’s 2024 strategic planning process, housing affordability was identified as a key issue in our region. While the Triangle has experienced tremendous economic growth in recent years, income levels for many who are the lifeblood of our communities, including firefighters, health care workers, and teachers, have not kept pace, squeezing out the very people who directly contribute to our region’s vitality.Utilizing the unique tools of a community foundation - grantmaking, impact investing, advocacy and convening, among others - we are working to mobilize solutions and investments to preserve and create more homes that are affordable to Triangle residents.
